The Parks Department is aerating and watering the site – as it’s still hot and the growing season is still here for about another 30 days and they want to get a jump on getting the lawn in good shape prior to the cooler months. – they expect to open it up Friday morning.

it’s great that some portion of ticket sales go to the parks.
it’s been over a week since ACL fest, and there’s still a fence around Zilker park and picnic tables have yet to be set up. the park does not even look open. what’s the hang-up?

The rocks are embedded into the side of the bank, they actually replace the soil that was lost due to erosion – you’ll note in earlier photos the tree roots are exposed – that’s a good sign of the erosion.

That looks good,but if the creek ever fills up with water again I’d hate to slip off the rope early and hit those rocks.

this is great another reason to move to austin look at this its being done right with the right amount of land not trying to smash everything together in 5,000 sf i will be here everyday when i move to austin

Bob, this is a city project and it should be completed by mid-summer I think. There won’t be staff and it will probably be self managed by an adopter group like the one who keeps the 9th St BMX site going.

This is great. I grew up bmx racing and playing around in local parks. It is great to see that Austin supports sports like skating and bmx. When is this proposed to be finished? Will it be staffed? Will this mean the end of 9th street bmx? Where can I learn more?
